Unveiling the Beauty of a Sabertooth Tiger Skull: Journey into Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry

Welcome to the latest update from SIAD Studio! We are thrilled to share with you the incredible opportunity we recently had to scan and recreate a breathtaking Sabertooth Tiger Skull. Through the combined power of laser scanning and photogrammetry, our team at SIAD Studio utilised advanced software like Capturing Reality to transform this historical object into a mesmerising 3D model.

Marvels of Photogrammetry:

Photogrammetry, an innovative process at the forefront of digital reconstruction, enables us to capture precise measurements and intricate details by analysing multiple overlapping photographs. It's a technique that merges art and science, allowing us to recreate objects with unparalleled accuracy and realism. Through the meticulous extraction of key data points, a highly detailed 3D representation emerges, taking us on a visual journey through time.

Laser Scanning and Photogrammetry Connection:

Our team combined the power of laser scanning with photogrammetry techniques to bring the Sabertooth Tiger Skull to life. With the help of laser scanning technology, we acquired accurate scan data of the skull's surface. We then accompanied this information with hundreds of carefully captured photographs, merging the precision of laser scanning with the photogrammetry.
